FAQ

Do you accept custom orders?

Please read the section on Sizing Guide for necktie sizing. If you wish to customise a product by adding a monogram, this is possible on most neckties, pocket squares, scarves & neckerchiefs. However if the monogram option is not available on the individual product page, it’s because the fabric is not suitable for monogramming.

Do you ship internationally?

International orders are most welcome. Please refer to our Shipping and Delivery section for more information.

Do I have to pay taxes (GST)?

With effect from 15 June 2015, Vanda Fine Clothing Pte Ltd is Goods and Services Tax (GST) registered in Singapore. Our GST Registration number is 201120489C.

For deliveries within Singapore and purchases direct from our workshop, all products including local delivery charges will be charged at the prevailing GST rate (currently 9%).

For exports to international destinations, there will be no GST charged on products and delivery, so our prices will remain unchanged. GST will be removed from the prices at checkout once our system detects that the delivery is to a non-Singapore address. However, there may be import taxes implemented by your country’s customs department, which are not within our control. Please note all payable import taxes are the responsibility of the customer (except for USA-bound parcels shipped via Registered Airmail shipping aka USPS First Class Mail, as of 29 Dec 2025).

What happens if my parcel is lost?

Shipping via all methods is fully insured by Vanda Fine Clothing against losses or damages (except for a select few countries). If your parcel is damaged, or not received after 1 month from the date of posting, we will resend your order at our cost, or issue a full refund of your order.

Where and how are your products made?

Our products are proudly handmade by us in our own home studio in Singapore. Learn more about our design philosophy and construction process in Our Crafts section.

Are the colours accurately represented?

We make every effort to accurately describe and display the colours of our products. However, since actual colours and shades depend on your monitor and lighting conditions, we cannot guarantee that your screen will accurately reproduce the actual colours.

If you would like to get a feel of the fabric (for neckties only), we offer a swatch service. You may place an order for a set of 5 swatches at S$10, with free shipping worldwide.

Why are the dimensions on my necktie slightly different from the stated measurements?

While we strive for perfection, the reality is that a handmade product is never going to be 100% perfect. This is especially so for our neckties which are all untipped and unlined/partially lined, and minor variation in specified widths and lengths should not be considered as defects, but rather the nature of a product made by hand with fine fabrics. In particular, since we do not press our ties’ edges completely flat, but rather allow them to roll naturally, they may appear to be slightly different than stated.

Also, unlined ties or partially lined neckties may stretch a little with use, since they are cut on the bias (in order to drape well) and do not have a very stiff interlining to hold them firmly in place. On our end we take extra care to pre-stretch each tie on the bias before cutting, and with some fabrics, we actually cut the tie a little shorter than the requested length in anticipation of stretch. Hence, upon receipt, most of our neckties will be slightly shorter than specified, but will stretch out to (approximately) your specified length. Alas, depending on how loosely woven the necktie fabric is or how tight the knots are tied, this is not a full guarantee that the ties will not stretch more than a little with repeated wear.

This is the little price that we pay for having elegant drape in a very lightly constructed tie. C’est la vie…

There is no keeper / tie loop at the back of my necktie. Why is that so?

We do not add keeper loops to our ties because we prefer our ties to drape naturally, as opposed to having the front and back ends being stuck together. If you are interested in reading more about our craft, please have a look here: http://vandafineclothing.com/our-craft/.

Why are there some yellow spots on my vintage kimono pocket squares?

The kimono fabrics that we use for some of our pocket squares are vintage, circa 1960s-1980s. While we check the fabrics to eliminate those that are in very bad condition, there may be some small yellow spots that we deem to be unnoticeable when worn, and does not affect the overall aesthetic or quality.

The product I want is sold out. Will you restock it?

We have only limited pieces of each product and all are released at the same time. Restocks are unlikely but not impossible. Please email us at info@vandafineclothing.com.

How soon will my order be processed?

Please read the Order Processing Time section.

I have just placed my order. Can I cancel it?

Once we receive an order, we normally cut it within a day in order to ship it within the promised 14-day lead time. As long as we have not cut your order and/or they are non-custom sized, non-monogrammed products such as accessories, pocket squares, or neckties in 3 1/2″ x 57″ size, we will be able to cancel your order and issue a refund. However, please note there is a 3% administrative fee to be deducted from the refund value (based on the amount paid) to cover the costs of processing the cancellation.
